Bandit Leader Turji Has Not Surrendered — Defence HQ
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has dismissed reports that notorious bandit leader Bello Turji has surrendered to the military. Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, clarified the situation on Thursday in Abuja while briefing journalists on the Armed Forces’ recent activities. “Simple answer to the question about terrorist leader, Bello Turji: Turji has not surrendered. We are still on the lookout for him,” Kangye said. Turji, who operates mainly in Zamfara and Sokoto states, is wanted for allegedly orchestrating multiple deadly attacks on communities across the North-West. The denial follows media reports claiming Turji had laid down his arms and freed 32 kidnap victims after a peace deal brokered by Islamic clerics in Zamfara. Details later…
