Troops Rescue 360 Women, Children Abducted by Boko Haram in Gwoza

Nigerian security personnel have rescued 360 hostages, including many women and children, from a mountainous refuge in Borno State, where they had been held by Boko Haram's Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction. The operation, led by the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, targeted the Mandara Mountains in the southern part of the state. The military confirmed Sunday that the hostages had been abducted by the JAS faction over an indeterminate period from various localities across the region. 3 Children Die Inside Parked Car, Another Drowns in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has begun an investigation into the deaths of three children found lifeless inside a parked vehicle in Maiduguri, the state capital. The victims—three-year-old Anwar, one-year-five-month-old Fatima (popularly called Mama), and five-year-old Ahmed Muhammad—were reported missing on Tuesday after being allegedly lured away by an unidentified woman. Their father, Babagana Zanna Jaridama, a social media commentator and supporter of Governor Babagana Zulum, raised alarm when his children disappeared and even offered to surrender himself in exchange for their release. In a shocking twist, Jaridama later discovered the children’s bodies inside his old Honda Civic, parked in his compound, on Thursday night.
