Iwobi suffers hamstring scare in Fulham draw with Brentford

Alex Iwobi picked up an injury scare in Fulham’s goalless London derby draw with Brentford on Saturday.​ The Super Eagles midfielder limped off shortly before half time after feeling discomfort in his hamstring. He was replaced by his Nigerian international teammate Samuel Chukwueze.​ Fulham head coach Marco Silva has however moved to calm fears of a serious problem. After the match, he indicated that the initial assessment suggested the injury was not severe.​ The game marked Iwobi’s 255th Premier League start, underlining his experience and importance at this level. Silva will be hoping the 29 year old can return quickly as Fulham continue their push for a European place.​ Iwobi has been a key figure for the Whites this season, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 27 league appearances.​

Brentford sign Nigerian teenager Kaye Furo from Club Brugge

Premier League club Brentford have completed the signing of Nigerian born forward Kaye Furo from Belgian side Club Brugge on a permanent deal, subject to international clearance and work permit. The 18 year old has agreed a long term contract with the London club as part of their strategy of investing in young attacking talent.​ Furo is the son of former Super Eagles defender Furo Iyenemi, who played for Nigeria at the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations co hosted by Ghana and Nigeria.
