Police report: Bandits launch over 50 attacks in one week
Nigeria’s security challenges have worsened with a new police report revealing that bandits launched more than 50 attacks across the country within the space of one week, despite the government spending about N57.78bn on security. According to the report cited by Punch, the wave of attacks included killings, abductions, raids on communities, and assaults on security formations in multiple states, underscoring the growing boldness and spread of bandit operations. Many of the incidents occurred in rural areas, where residents remain highly vulnerable due to limited security presence and delayed response times.
