Eight UNIJOS students die in Jos road crash

Eight students of the University of Jos have died in a road crash involving a trailer and a bus on Zaria Road in Jos, Plateau State. The accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, opposite Unity Bank, when a bus conveying the students collided with a trailer.​ Eyewitnesses said 11 people were on board the bus. Seven were confirmed dead at the scene, while one more victim later died in the hospital, bringing the total fatalities to eight.​ They attributed the crash to speeding and wrongful overtaking, which allegedly caused the bus driver to lose control. Tinubu orders N1.5tr payout to local contractors, sets up payment panel

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the payment of N1.5 trillion owed to local contractors and set up a high level inter ministerial panel to tackle long standing delays in settling verified debts. Army denies shooting women protesters in Adamawa

The Nigerian Army’s 23 Brigade in Adamawa State has denied reports that its troops opened fire on women protesting a communal clash in Lamurde Local Government Area. The Anambra State Police Command has condemned an attack on a church in Lilu, Ihiala Local Government Area, which left one person dead and several others injured.
