Court fixes May 26 for DSS to open case against Malami, son

The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed May 26 for the Department of State Services (DSS) to open its case of alleged terrorism against former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, SAN, and his son, Abdulaziz. The DSS is prosecuting Malami and his son on terrorism‑related charges before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik. At Tuesday’s hearing, prosecution counsel Akinlolu Kehinde, SAN, informed the court that an amended five‑count charge had been filed to replace an earlier one on which the defendants were arraigned. Kehinde applied to withdraw the original charge and asked that the amended charge be read to the defendants so they could take fresh pleas, a request the court granted. NRS raised tax revenue from N711b to N3.6tr in two years

The Federal Government has outlined major gains from its revenue and tax reforms, with monthly revenue collections rising by 411.3 per cent in just over two years. Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Zacch Adedeji, said total monthly revenue grew from N711 billion in May 2023 to N3.635 trillion by September 2025, driven by stronger collections across key agencies. He spoke in Abuja at the inauguration of the new NRS headquarters, an event attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and top officials from the executive, legislature and states. Data from the NRS showed that total annual revenue climbed from N6.41 trillion in 2021 to N28.79 trillion in 2025, more than a fourfold increase over the period. El-Rufai arrives Federal High Court in Kaduna for bail ruling

Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai has arrived at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the ruling on his bail application in a fresh corruption case. Security was heightened around the court premises on Tuesday, with armed personnel deployed as Justice Rilwan Aikawa prepared to deliver the ruling. The Supreme Court has fixed April 22 for the hearing of two appeals filed by the Kabiru Turaki‑led leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging recent judgments on the party’s national leadership dispute. A five‑member panel of the apex court headed by Justice Mohammed Garba set the date on Tuesday while ruling on applications seeking accelerated hearing. The court granted the requests, allowing a departure from its usual rules and abridging the time within which the respondents must file their briefs. Delta police arrest four suspected cultists, recover firearms, illicit drugs

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested four suspected cultists in separate operations, recovering firearms, ammunition and illicit drugs in a renewed crackdown on cult‑related crime. Police spokesman SP Bright Edafe said the first arrest was made on April 11, 2026, when operatives attached to Delta Shield apprehended a 32‑year‑old suspect, Peter Onajite, at Orerokpe in Okpe Local Government Area. Police unseal PDP secretariat as factions clash over control

The Nigeria Police Force has reopened the Peoples Democratic Party national secretariat, Wadata Plaza in Abuja, handing control to a faction backed by Minister of the FCT Nyesom Wike.
