Rail Licence Not for New Track Construction SWDC

The South West Development Commission has explained that its newly secured rail licence does not allow it to build new rail lines. The commission said the licence is meant for rail operations, not construction. It will allow the agency to run passenger and freight services on existing rail corridors. Officials said the approval is part of efforts to improve transport links across the South West and support trade, movement, and economic growth in the region. The clarification comes after some reports suggested that the licence would give the commission power to construct new tracks. The commission said that is not the case. According to the agency, the licence will help it work with existing rail infrastructure while exploring ways to expand transport services in the region. The commission said its goal is to support regional development by making travel and […]

A number of All Progressives Congress (APC) members of the House of Representatives who lost their return tickets in the just‑concluded primaries are fighting back through legal challenges and internal party pressure. At least 26 incumbent lawmakers are at the centre of the brewing crisis, accusing party leaders and primary election officials of manipulation, imposition and disenfranchisement. Some aggrieved Reps have petitioned the APC national leadership and primary appeals panels, demanding the cancellation or review of results in their constituencies. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has cleared Food & Food Integrated Company Limited, makers of BON Bread, over a viral allegation that its bread could stay fresh on a shelf for more than two months without moulding.
