US pulls some embassy staff from Nigeria over insecurity

In a travel advisory issued on Wednesday, the department urged American citizens to reconsider travelling to Nigeria from April 8 2026 due to crime, terrorism, kidnapping, civil unrest and limited healthcare services. Nigeria has been placed at Level 3 Reconsider Travel, while 23 states are now listed under Level 4 Do Not Travel. The advisory newly added Plateau, Jigawa, Kwara, Niger and Taraba to the Level 4 list. They join other high risk northern areas such as Borno, Yobe, Kogi and northern Adamawa where terrorism and kidnapping remain a serious threat. Terrorists kill 34 fasting Muslims in Kebbi attack

Troops rescue eight kidnapped wedding guests in Kano

Troops of 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have rescued eight of the 10 people abducted by suspected terrorists at a wedding in Dabawa, Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State. The victims were kidnapped on Wednesday when gunmen in military camouflage reportedly stormed the ceremony and took them away.​ A military source said soldiers deployed in an ambush position along the Yankwada River line moved quickly towards the area after receiving a distress call. ACF warns of rising insecurity and poverty in North

The Arewa Consultative Forum has raised fresh alarm over worsening insecurity, deepening poverty and growing humanitarian crises across Northern Nigeria.
