ITF Denies Plans to Relocate Headquarters from Jos

The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has dismissed claims that it intends to move its headquarters out of Jos, Plateau State. In a statement issued on Friday, ITF’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Mr. Thomas Ngor, said the agency’s attention was drawn to reports alleging plans for relocation — concerns recently raised by Plateau lawmaker Prof. Theodore Maiyaki during a state assembly plenary. Ngor clarified that relocating a federal agency involves formal processes, none of which have been initiated by the ITF, its Governing Council, or its supervising body, the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment. “The ITF has no intention of moving from Jos. Our commitment to industrial and economic growth in Plateau State and Nigeria remains strong, with Jos as the hub of our operations,” he said. He noted that the Fund has been headquartered in Jos […]

Global Talks on Plastic Treaty End Without Agreement in Geneva

After 10 days of negotiations, global efforts to finalise a legally binding treaty to combat plastic pollution ended in Geneva on Friday without a consensus on the final text. The resumed fifth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-5.2) drew more than 2,600 participants, including 1,400 delegates from 183 countries, nearly 1,000 observers from over 400 organisations, and about 100 high-level officials. While no agreement was reached, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) confirmed that member states agreed to resume discussions at a later date, showing a shared commitment to continue the process. The aim of the session was to agree on the treaty’s text and pinpoint unresolved issues ahead of a planned diplomatic conference. Negotiations began with a Chair’s draft from the last session in Busan and were divided into contact groups focusing on topics such as plastic design, […]

According to him, detailed operational instructions have been issued to officers stationed at every polling unit in the affected areas. He added that enough armed personnel have been deployed to provide protection before, during, and after the polls. Bakori encouraged residents to come out and vote without fear, stressing that the police will maintain a visible presence at polling stations to protect voters and prevent intimidation. “We will not allow thuggery, harassment, or any violent acts. Foelyjoe Releases ‘Blow Them’ – A Bold Anthem of Hustle, Heritage, and Faith

Nigerian singer-songwriter Foelyjoe (Ayetiran Folagbade Oluwasegun) has dropped his new single ‘Blow Them’, a vibrant mix of Afrobeat, street-hop, and Yoruba influences. The song is more than entertainment — it’s a message of determination, faith, and pride. Foelyjoe says it reflects his journey, his struggles, and his refusal to be overlooked. Proud of his royal roots, he traces his lineage to the Adenusi Royal Family of Epe and, through his mother, to Oba Kosoko, a historic King of Lagos. “This isn’t about chasing clout,” he says. “It’s my bloodline and the foundation I stand on.” Inspired by music legends like Ligali Mukaiba, Fela Kuti, 9ice, and Wizkid, Foelyjoe blends traditional spirit with modern energy. ‘Blow Them’ is aimed at the streets, dreamers, and anyone fighting for their future. The single is now streaming on all major platforms.

Nigeria’s Economy Stable, Now Needs Growth — Okonjo-Iweala

World Trade Organisation (WTO) Director-General, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, says Nigeria’s economy is now stable under President Bola Tinubu’s administration but must move towards real growth. Speaking to reporters after meeting the President in Abuja on Thursday, she praised the government’s reforms, saying stability is the first step before any real improvement. Okonjo-Iweala also attended the launch of a Women Exporters Fund for the Digital Economy by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in partnership with the WTO and the International Trade Centre. Nigeria is one of four countries chosen for the programme. Out of 67,000 applicants, 146 women entrepreneurs were selected for grants and training to grow their businesses. She said the goal is […]

Residents Slam FG, Gov Radda Over Collapsing Katsina Highway

People living along the Mararrabar Kankara–Dutsinma–Katsina highway are angry with the federal government, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, and Minister of Works David Umahi for letting the road fall into terrible shape. The highway is one of the busiest in Katsina, linking many towns to the state capital. It used to be important for farmers, traders, and travellers, but now it is full of big potholes, broken edges, and damaged drains. Residents say things got worse after the government stopped repair work by a local company, Vipan Global Investment Resources. They believe the work stopped because of politics, as the contractor is said to be linked to the opposition. Now, with heavy rains, the road is almost impossible to use. Drivers take long detours, spend more on fuel, and face constant breakdowns. Accidents are common, and security problems in the area […]

Arab Nations Condemn Netanyahu’s ‘Greater Israel’ Remarks

Several Arab countries have strongly criticised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after he appeared to endorse the idea of a “Greater Israel” — a concept that includes not only present-day Israel and the Palestinian territories, but also parts of Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. In an interview with i24NEWS on Tuesday, Netanyahu was asked if he supported this vision. He replied, “Absolutely… we’re there,” before shifting to comments about Israel’s founding and its mission to survive. Arab backlash was swift: Jordan called the remarks a “dangerous and provocative escalation” and “a threat to the sovereignty of states.” Egypt demanded clarification, saying the idea rejects “the option of peace in the region.” Iraq accused Israel of “expansionist ambitions” and provoking other nations. Qatar described the statements as “absurd” and “inflammatory.” Saudi Arabia rejected “colonisation and expansion,” reaffirming Palestinians’ right to an independent […]

Comfort Emmanson: Airlines Lift Lifetime Ban, List Behaviours Considered ‘Unruly’

The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has lifted the lifetime ban placed on Comfort Emmanson after her clash with Ibom Air crew members, but also released a list of actions it considers unacceptable on flights. AON spokesperson Prof. Obiora Okonkwo said in a Thursday statement that the decision followed the intervention of Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo, who appealed for leniency. Emmanson’s charges were dropped after she reportedly showed remorse, and Ibom Air withdrew its complaint. The association, however, stressed that aviation safety remains a top priority and urged government agencies to start public campaigns about the dangers and penalties of unruly conduct at airports and onboard aircraft. Under Nigerian aviation laws, such offences can lead to fines, jail time, or both. Examples of unruly behaviour include: Assaulting, threatening, or intimidating flight crew or cabin crew. Using phones or other devices […]
