Army Chief vows better welfare, conditions for troops

Bandits kill 5 soldiers, 10 villagers in Zamfara ambush

Armed bandits have killed five soldiers and 10 villagers in Lilo Village, Mada District of Gusau Local Government Area, Zamfara State. Community leaders, speaking at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) press centre in Gusau on Wednesday, said the tragedy struck on Monday when troops were escorting traders to Gusau market. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers laid an ambush along the Lilo–Gulubba Road, opening fire on the convoy. Police arrest suspected female drug dealer, 3 apprentices in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected female drug dealer and her three apprentices in Ughelli North Local Government Area. The command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Wednesday in Warri. FG to arraign two captured Ansaru commanders in Abuja court

The Federal Government will on Thursday arraign two top commanders of the Ansaru terrorist group, an Al-Qaeda-linked network, at the Federal High Court, Abuja. The suspects are Mahmud Muhammed Usman (aka Abu Bara’a/Abbas Mukhtar) and his deputy Abubakar Abba (aka Isah Adam/Mahmud Al-Nigeri), popularly known as Mallam Mamuda. UNODC trains 30 Kwara teachers on drug abuse prevention

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has trained 30 secondary school teachers in Kwara State on drug abuse prevention at a two-day stakeholders’ workshop in Ilorin. The training, held under the “Unplugged Teachers Training” programme, aims to equip educators with skills to discourage drug use among students and provide counselling support for those already affected. The programme was formally declared open on Tuesday by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who was represented by his Senior Advisor/Counsellor, Alhaji Saadu Salahu.
