The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors has declared an indefinite nationwide strike to begin at 12 00 a m on Tuesday April 7 2026. The decision followed an extraordinary NEC meeting where the body reviewed government’s handling of its long standing demands. NARD said the action became inevitable after repeated failures by the Federal Government to honour agreements and implement terms reached in earlier negotiations. The doctors accused authorities of making promises on paper without translating them into concrete improvements on the ground. Key issues listed include unpaid salary and promotion arrears for many members across teaching and specialist hospitals. The association is also demanding improved working conditions, implementation of agreed allowances and adequate staffing to reduce excessive workload. Resident doctors say the current situation is pushing many colleagues to burnout or forcing them to leave the country, worsening brain […]

Afrobeats star Davido has revealed that he is no longer keen on joining partisan politics despite his strong involvement in past campaigns. He said recent events have made him reconsider how deeply he wants to be involved in Nigeria’s political space. According to him, one major reason is the way Nigerians quickly attack and insult celebrities over their political choices or associations. He noted that many people do not separate an artist’s personal political view from their music, which can turn support for a candidate into a source of constant backlash. Davido explained that he now prefers to support quietly from the background instead of being at the frontline of politics. He stressed that his priority is to keep making music and using his influence for positive causes without being dragged into endless political wars. The singer also hinted that […]

Controversial relationship influencer Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has clarified that she does not have stage 4 cancer as previously widely reported. She said the stage 4 label was the result of a miscommunication and that doctors have not yet confirmed the exact stage of her illness. In a recent interview on the online show Young and Healthy Bros, Blessing explained that she found a lump in her breast around July last year. Initial checks suggested it was non cancerous, but later biopsy results confirmed that it is cancerous, prompting further tests and consultations with an oncologist. “I don’t have stage 4 cancer. That was a miscommunication,” she said, adding that she has not started chemotherapy and is still waiting for specialists to determine the precise stage of the disease. A constitutional lawyer has criticised the Oyo State government over the recent coronation of three Ibadan high chiefs as crown wearing obas in absentia. Governor Seyi Makinde went ahead with the ceremony at Mapo Hall even though the chiefs concerned did not attend. In a detailed legal opinion, the lawyer, Adebisi Adeyemo, argued that the governor exceeded his constitutional and statutory powers by proceeding with a coronation without the physical presence and express consent of the beneficiaries. He maintained that a coronation conducted in absentia lacks the essential elements of traditional and legal validity. Adeyemo said the move undermines established chieftaincy procedures in Ibadanland and could be interpreted as an attempt to politicise the traditional institution. He warned that such an action risks turning a revered cultural process into what he called a hollow political spectacle. The ceremony saw high […]

Nollywood actress Lilian Afegbai has apologised to the organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for her earlier outburst over being left out of this year’s nominations. She had previously gone viral for angrily telling them to eat their award after her name was missing from the list. In a new post on her X page, Afegbai admitted that her apology was overdue and that her earlier reaction was disrespectful. She said her words were driven by hurt and disappointment and did not reflect the respect she has for the AMVCA platform and those who work behind the scenes. The actress, who played the character Idia in Kemi Adetiba’s Netflix series To Kill a Monkey, had initially expressed shock at not being nominated for Best Supporting Actress. She argued that her role was one of the most talked about […]

Super Eagles players have expressed disappointment after the Nigeria Football Federation failed to pay their agreed appearance fees for the recent friendly matches against Iran and Jordan in Antalya, Turkey. The team defeated Iran 2 1 and drew 2 2 with Jordan during the March international window. Reports say the friendlies were organised by the Jordan Football Association, which will pay the NFF an appearance fee for Nigeria’s participation. However, despite this, the players were not paid their own appearance entitlements at the end of the games. According to sources quoted by ScoreNigeria, each player is entitled to 2,000 dollars per match, but no payment was made for either of the two fixtures. The players were said to be angry and accused the NFF of making empty promises and failing once again to honour financial agreements. This is not the […]

As the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico approaches, seven modern greats of the game are widely seen as likely nearing their final appearance on football’s biggest stage. The list includes Argentina captain Lionel Messi, who will be 39 and arrives as defending world champion and the player with the most World Cup appearances and 13 goals to his name. Cristiano Ronaldo, now 41, has already said 2026 will be his last World Cup, where he could become the first player to feature in six tournaments if selected. Croatia’s Luka Modric, who led his country to the 2018 final and 2022 third place, would be 40 and is expected to use 2026 […]
