ADC NEC takes over party administration, appoints interim leadership

The National Executive Council of the African Democratic Congress has announced that it is taking over the administration of the party and putting in place an interim leadership structure. The move follows a prolonged leadership tussle and multiple court cases over who legally controls the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections. At an emergency NEC meeting in Abuja, key stakeholders resolved to sideline the warring factions and mandated a caretaker team to manage the party’s affairs until a national convention is held. Leaders aligned with former interim chairman David Mark and other elders said the step became necessary to stabilise the party and restore confidence among members and aspirants. The interim leadership has been tasked with organising a credible national convention, reconciling aggrieved blocs and ensuring strict adherence to the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act. NEC members also warned […]

A civilisation might die tonight’ – Trump issues apocalyptic warning to Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that “a whole civilisation will die tonight” in Iran if the country fails to accept his terms to end the ongoing conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Posting on his Truth Social platform on Tuesday, Trump said he did not want that outcome “but it probably will” if Tehran refuses to make a deal by his deadline. The extraordinary warning comes as the United States and Israel intensify strikes on Iranian military targets and infrastructure following weeks of clashes across the region. Trump has repeatedly tied his ultimatum to Iran’s de‑facto closure of the vital shipping lane, insisting that the strait must be fully reopened to global oil traffic. In recent days, the president has threatened to “take out” key Iranian infrastructure, including bridges and power plants, if no agreement is reached. He […]

Relationship influencer Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has been accused of fraudulently doctoring a cancer survivor’s medical report to support her claim of having stage 4 breast cancer. The allegation was made by Deborah Mbara, a mother of four and breast cancer survivor based in Asaba, Delta State. Mbara says Blessing requested a copy of her histology report last year, claiming she wanted to compare it with her own diagnosis as a fellow patient. According to her, she later discovered that the influencer had edited and used the document to raise donations from Nigerians after posting a viral tearful video announcing a stage 4 cancer diagnosis and shaving her hair. The Nigerian Medical Association, Delta State chapter, has now confirmed that the report linked to Blessing CEO is a doctored version of Mbara’s original result. In a statement […]

Bimbo Ademoye denies claims of using emotional videos to promote films

Nollywood actress and producer Bimbo Ademoye has denied accusations that she deliberately uses emotional or teary videos as a strategy to promote her films. The criticism followed an emotional clip she shared before the release of her YouTube film “Mirrors and Reflections”, where she spoke about the challenges affecting its upload and release. Reacting during a live session, Ademoye said it is unfair and insulting for anyone to suggest she relies on pity stories and crying to sell her projects. “Don’t do that. Am I supposed to be battling people over stealing my film title and thumbnail? Do you think I just pick people’s pictures and merge them together? I organise proper photoshoots. I still pay for thumbnails and posters, only for someone to steal my hard work. Then someone says this is a strategy. What bloody strategy?” she said. […]

Patience Ozokwor explains why veteran Nollywood actors beg online

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor has opened up on why many older actors end up begging for financial help online despite years of fame on screen. Speaking on the podcast “Curiosity Made Me Ask” with Isbae U, she blamed the problem on the absence of royalty payments in Nigeria’s movie industry. Ozokwor explained that actors are typically paid only once for their roles, with no residual income when movies are rebroadcast on TV, sold on DVD or streamed on digital platforms. She contrasted this with more developed film industries where even “the smallest actors” keep earning from their work for life and their families continue to receive royalties after they die. According to her, this one‑off payment system leaves many performers financially stranded when they fall ill, retire or are no longer in high demand, forcing some to turn to […]
