Troops repel terrorist drone strikes, maintain battlefield edge

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled terrorist drone attacks during operations along the Timbuktu Triangle in Borno State, maintaining control of the area. The operations were carried out on Sunday, January 18, with close support from the Nigerian Air Force.​ Operation Hadin Kai spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba said troops advanced from their harbour and conducted intelligence led raids on terrorist enclaves in Chilaria, Garin Faruk and Abirma. Fire guts Computer Village building, destroys goods worth millions

A night time fire has destroyed a one storey commercial building on Somoye Street in Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, burning property worth several millions of naira. The affected building housed shops used for the storage and sale of computers and accessories.​ Eyewitnesses said the fire started around midnight and spread quickly because of the volume of combustible materials inside. Emergency responders arrived after distress calls and battled the flames through the night.​ No life was lost, but an officer of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service sustained minor injuries during the operation. Israel starts demolishing UNRWA headquarters in Jerusalem

Israeli bulldozers have begun demolishing parts of the headquarters of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, in occupied east Jerusalem. The operation took place in the Sheikh Jarrah area, where an Israeli flag was seen flying over the compound.​ UNRWA spokesman Jonathan Fowler said Israeli forces entered the compound shortly after 7 a.m., removed security guards and then allowed bulldozers to move in and start tearing down buildings. Confusion trails alleged kidnap of 172 Kaduna church worshippers

Confusion has trailed reports that 172 worshippers were kidnapped by terrorists during Sunday services at three churches in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
