United States President Donald Trump has linked his push for control of Greenland and his tariff threats against European allies to his failure to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Actress Shaffy Bello has said Nigerian stars Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy have reached the same level of international recognition as Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Appeal Court deploys 40 justices to clear Lagos backlog

The Court of Appeal has deployed 40 justices to Lagos for a special sitting aimed at speeding up the hearing of appeals in the state. FG opens 2026 PTDF overseas scholarship for postgraduates

The Federal Government has opened applications for the 2026 Petroleum Technology Development Fund Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Nigerian postgraduate students. The programme covers study opportunities in the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Malaysia.​ The announcement was made by the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, in a post on X. Court fixes Jan 22 for Sowore’s trial over Tinubu tweet

The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed January 22 for the start of the trial of Sahara Reporters publisher Omoyele Sowore over alleged false claims against President Bola Tinubu. Justice Mohammed Umar set the date after Sowore pleaded not guilty to a two count amended charge filed by the Department of State Services.​ In the amended charge, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/484/2025 and filed on December 5, Sowore is listed as the only defendant.
