It may seem unusual to say a team heading to a Champions League final has gone somewhat under the radar, but that has largely been the case for Arsenal this season.
Much of the focus has been on their push to end a 22-year wait for a Premier League title, overshadowing what has been an outstanding European campaign under Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal secured their place in the final in Budapest after a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their semi-final. A first-half goal from Bukayo Saka sealed a 2-1 aggregate victory.
While the performance at the Emirates Stadium was not their most dominant, Arsenal’s overall displays in Europe this season have been highly effective. They remain the only unbeaten side left in the competition, recording impressive wins against Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Sporting CP.
Their domestic title challenge has drawn significant attention, especially after Manchester City dropped points in a draw with Everton. However, Arsenal’s European run has been marked by consistency and control, with few moments where they looked under serious threat.
Midfielder Declan Rice highlighted the significance of the achievement, noting that the team fully understood the importance of the occasion and believed in their ability to progress once they took the lead.
The atmosphere played a key role on the night, with fans creating a memorable استقبال for the team bus ahead of kick-off—an experience described by Arteta as unique and energising.
Reflecting on the achievement, Arteta praised both his players and supporters, emphasising the collective effort behind reaching only the second Champions League final in the club’s history.
After two decades, Arsenal now return to European football’s biggest stage, carrying both momentum and belief into the final.

India Faces Pressure From Iran War
As the conflict involving Iran enters its third month with no clear resolution in sight, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to reduce spending and conserve resources amid growing economic pressure linked to rising global energy costs. Speaking during a public event in Hyderabad, Modi encouraged Indians to work from home when possible, limit unnecessary foreign travel, reduce fuel consumption and avoid excessive purchases of gold. The appeal has drawn comparisons to the Covid-19 period, when the government relied on nationwide public participation to manage economic and social challenges. This time, the government’s focus is on protecting India’s foreign exchange reserves and limiting pressure on the national economy as the war in the Middle East disrupts global energy markets. India remains heavily dependent on imported energy, purchasing nearly 90% of its crude oil and about half of its […]

In cities such as Houston, Miami, Kansas City and New York, World Cup advertising and merchandise have become increasingly visible as preparations intensify for the competition. However, many hotel operators say the anticipated surge in reservations has yet to materialize. According to the American Hotel and Lodging Association, a large number of hotels in host cities are currently recording lower booking levels compared to the same period last year. Several hotel owners and managers told the BBC they expected significantly stronger demand months before the tournament begins. Deidre Mathis, owner of the Wanderstay Boutique Hotel in Houston, said her establishment remains far below projected occupancy levels despite being located near […]

World Cup Final to Feature Historic Show
The 2026 FIFA World Cup final will feature a major half-time entertainment show for the first time in the tournament’s history, as organisers prepare for a global spectacle at the championship match in New Jersey on 19 July. The tournament will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. According to reports, the half-time performance is expected to last around 11 minutes, although earlier speculation suggested it could run beyond the traditional 15-minute interval allowed under football regulations. Last year’s Club World Cup final between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain featured a half-time show that lasted more than 24 minutes. While pre-match entertainment has become common at major football events such as the UEFA Champions League final, this will mark the first official half-time show ever staged during a FIFA World Cup final. Among the artists linked to the […]

Iwobi hopeful of quick return after injury blow
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has expressed optimism that he will return to action soon after suffering a hamstring injury during Fulham’s recent Premier League clash with Brentford. The 29-year-old pulled up unchallenged while chasing a loose ball and was forced off shortly before half-time in the goalless draw at the Gtech Community Stadium. Fulham manager Marco Silva initially described the setback as “really bad news”, but stressed that early indications suggested it was not a “serious, serious” hamstring problem. He said the club would have to wait for the results of a scan to determine the full extent of the damage, but remained hopeful that Iwobi could feature again before the end of the season. Providing his own update, Iwobi admitted he was frustrated by the timing of the injury but revealed he is still able to walk despite […]
