Nollywood is losing its sense of unity says Jaiye Kuti
Nollywood actress Jaiye Kuti has expressed concern that the Nigerian film industry is losing its sense of unity. She said many actors and filmmakers now act as though everything is fine even when they are facing the same problems. According to her, the spirit of support that should hold the industry together is getting weaker. Kuti said her concern became stronger after she spoke publicly about her movie being removed from several cinemas. She said she expected support from colleagues but did not receive it. The actress explained that film production and cinema distribution now require huge financial commitment. She noted that many people do not understand the pressure producers face when trying to recover their investment. Why Tinubu trusted only Osinbajo Aregbesola and three others
A former aide to President Bola Tinubu has said that Tinubu placed members of his cabinet in different groups based on the level of trust he had in them. According to the aide, only a few people were among Tinubu’s closest and most trusted allies during his time as governor of Lagos State. The group reportedly included Yemi Osinbajo, Rauf Aregbesola and three others. The claim suggests that Tinubu relied on a small circle of trusted partners for key political and administrative decisions. It also shows how close relationships shaped his leadership style during that period. The remarks have drawn attention because they highlight the long political history between Tinubu and some of his former associates. Over the years, some of those relationships have remained strong while others have become strained. The story also reflects the wider politics around loyalty […]

Israel names first resident ambassador to Slovenia
Israel has appointed Ruth Cohen‑Dar as its first resident ambassador to Slovenia following the decision to open an embassy in Ljubljana. The move ends a long period in which Israel managed relations with Slovenia through a non‑resident envoy based elsewhere. The appointment was approved unanimously by Israel’s cabinet and reflects a warming of diplomatic ties after last year’s change of government in Slovenia. Relations had cooled under the previous Slovenian administration, but improved after a new government took office and signaled closer cooperation. Ruth Cohen‑Dar previously served as Israel’s non‑resident ambassador to Slovenia and Malta. As a resident ambassador she will be based in Ljubljana and lead the newly established embassy, handling diplomatic, political and consular responsibilities on the ground. Israel’s foreign ministry said the embassy opening and the resident ambassador appointment follow a reassessment of bilateral relations and aim […]

FIFA Clears Balogun to Face Belgium
The decision to overturn the suspension of United States forward Folarin Balogun has sparked debate after FIFA confirmed he will be available for his country's Round of 16 clash against Belgium at the FIFA World Cup. Balogun had been sent off during the United States' victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Round of 32, a dismissal that would normally result in an automatic one-match suspension. However, FIFA's disciplinary committee reversed the sanction, allowing the striker to return immediately. The ruling is considered highly unusual. Throughout World Cup history, players who receive red cards have almost always served the mandatory suspension. Of the 189 red cards recorded in the tournament's history, only two players have avoided missing the following match. The first instance dates back to the 1962 World Cup, when Brazil's Garrincha was dismissed in the semi-final against Chile but was […]
