Ghana’s gold reserves hit GH₵46billion in April 2025

The Bank of Ghana’s gold reserves reached a valuation of approximately GH₵46.3 billion at the end of April 2025 per the central bank’s announcement on May 6 that the price of gold had risen to GH₵46,086.32 per ounce. According to official data published by the Bank of Ghana, the nation’s total gold holdings stood at 31.37 tonnes as of April 30, 2025. This translates to 1,008,837.07 ounces of gold, using the standard conversion of 32,150.7 ounces per metric tonne. Govt dissatisfied with food supplied by second-cycle school heads

The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has warned that he may be forced to revoke the power to purchase food supplies for senior high schools from the hands of the management of schools if the quality of food and the supply schedule do not improve.He said even though he had implemented the NDC’s manifesto promise to put senior high school heads in charge of food purchase arrangements, the quality of foods being supplied by some heads of second cycle schools, as well as the supply schedule of those foodstuffs, was not encouraging. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has cancelled 701 diplomatic and service passports because the holders failed to return them as directed.The cancellation takes effect from May 6, 2025. Contractor sets new date for Ofankor-Nsawam road completion

Work on the Ofankor-Nsawam Dual Carriage Road project, which has already missed the initial July 20, 2024, completion date, will miss the revised completion date of May 21, 2025.  The completion of the project will be delayed by 15 more months because of unresolved compensation issues for persons affected by the project and the relocation of service lines of utility agencies such as the Electricity Company of Ghana and Ghana Water Limited. Per the current progress report, the project is 74 per cent complete, and thus, cannot be delivered on the revised completion date of May 21, this year. Constitution Review Committee receives over 600 reform proposals, NDC, NPP yet to submit proposals

The Constitutional Review Committee has received more than 600 submissions on proposed reforms to Ghana's 1992 Constitution, but the two main political parties have not yet contributed to the process, Dr Rainer Akumperigya, Secretary of the CRC has said. Ghanaian student dies under suspicious circumstances at Indian university
