Takoradi: Dawn swoop leads to arrest of suspected drug dealers

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) on Saturday stormed a suspected den of drug addicts in Takoradi and arrested a number of suspects. According to NACOC officials, the raid resulted in the arrest of several individuals believed to be connected to narcotics distribution networks in the Western Regional capital. They said they seized an undisclosed quantity of suspected illicit drugs. NACOC says it was going to do laboratory analysis to determine the exact type and volume of the drugs seized.

New Ghana Armed Forces CDS William Agyapong promoted to rank of Lieutenant General

The new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Major General William Agyapong has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General, a Three-Star General level. OSP’s corruption charges against me are ‘baseless’ – Charles Bissue

Former Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue, has reacted to the Office of Special Prosecutor's (OSP) corruption charges against him, describing it as “baseless”.  In a statement dated April 29, 2025, Mr Charles Bissue pledged to challenge the OSP's charges "vigorously" through due process. Rejecting the allegations brought against him, Mr Bissue stated: “I categorically assert that I have always acted in full compliance with both the legal and ethical obligations of the office I held, and the laws of the Republic of Ghana. KATH Receives Parts to Repair Radiotherapy Machine Amid Growing Calls for Hospital Retooling

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital has taken delivery of mechanical parts for the fixing of malfunctioning radiotherapy machine. The equipment, essential in the treatment of cancer patients, has been defective for close to five weeks. Cancer patients in need of radiotherapy were unable to receive treatment. Joy News sources at the hospital say technicians have moved to work, after receiving the parts, to get the machine running in no time. CEO of the Hospital, Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah has been to the radiotherapy unit to supervise work being done by the technicians. Calls for retooling the hospital have heightened following the breakdown of the radiotherapy machine. Don’t refer lab tests to private labs — Kbu Central Lab appeals

It has consequently called on prescribers of laboratory requests of the hospital, made up of doctors and nurses, not to refer laboratory diagnostic cases to private laboratories around the hospital. I won’t renew Zoomlion contract if sweepers’ salary remains GH¢250 – Basintale declares

Passport fee reduction to take effect after Parliamentary approval – Minister

Although the government had announced a 30 per cent cut in the cost of an ordinary passport, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, clarified in a Facebook post that the new fee will only take effect when Parliament reconvenes. The revised fee is part of a broader set of passport reforms scheduled to begin on Monday, April 28, 2025, but the price change remains subject to legislative approval. Mr Ablakwa had earlier informed Parliament on March 13, 2025, that the reduction was in response to public concerns over affordability. Judge refutes breaking traffic rules and influencing the detention of 4 Police officers

Bank of Ghana to begin cryptocurrency regulation by September — Governor Asiama

Speaking at the African Leaders and Partners Forum in Washington, D.C., held on the margins of the IMF/World Bank Spring Meetings, Dr Asiama said the move is pending the passage of the much-anticipated Virtual Asset Providers Act, which will formally empower the BoG to license and supervise operations in the digital asset space.
