BECE Not Credible, Ghana Christian High Dropped It Over a Decade Ago: Prof. Stephen Adei

Renowned educationist Prof. Stephen Adei has revealed that his school, Ghana Christian International High School, stopped using the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) more than a decade ago as an admission requirement because of credibility concerns. Minerals Commission Confirms Investor Interest in Goldfields Damang Mines

The Acting Chief Executive of the Minerals Commission, Isaac Andrews Tandoh, has confirmed that several investors have submitted proposals for the possible takeover of the Goldfields Damang Mines. Backhoe Loader Crashes Into Shops at Bibiani Roundabout

Traders at Bibiani in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region are counting their losses after a backhoe loader crashed into their shops. The heavy-duty machine, a Shantui with registration number GN 3069-21, reportedly suffered a brake failure before ramming into three shops at the Bibiani Roundabout. The affected structures included a mobile phone shop, an accessories shop, and a phone repair shop. Luckily, no casualties were recorded. An eyewitness, Collins Asiedu, explained that he heard the machine’s horn and shouts from bystanders before it veered off course and smashed into the shops. The shop owners, who lost valuable items, are appealing to authorities and benevolent individuals for support to recover from the incident.

Four Dead at Wenchi Shelter Camp Following Gbenyir Conflict

Four people, including three women and a teenage girl, have been confirmed dead at a shelter camp in Wenchi, Bono Region, following the recent Gbenyir conflict. Camp sources reported that two of the deceased fell ill and were taken to Wenchi Hospital, where they later passed away while receiving treatment. Management reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on examination malpractice and cautioned that any official—teaching or non-teaching—found culpable would face strict disciplinary sanctions. According to the Service, the investigation has the full backing of Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu and will be conducted in collaboration with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), National Security, and law enforcement agencies to protect the integrity of the BECE.
