Actor Mofe Duncan has come out strongly to criticize Daddy Freeze’s inappropriate comments about the late actor Alexx Ekubo’s Service of Songs, telling the media personality to “not be daft” and reminding him that the event was not meant for celebration.
Daddy Freeze, who attended the service while wearing black despite the white dress code specified in the invitation, faces backlash for his attire and his remarks about why he didn’t see any reason to celebrate at the event.
The media personality, Ifedayo Olarinde, better known as Daddy Freeze, apologized for wearing black to the Service of Songs of late actor Alexx Ekubo, explaining that it was not intentional as he received an invitation card with a code he scanned before attending. He claimed he was unaware of the dress code because the information was placed in a corner of the invitation and he did not see it.
Daddy Freeze also stated that he didn’t believe Ekubo died empty and didn’t see why people were rejoicing, saying it wasn’t a “passing on to glory”. He added that the late actor was only 40 years old and was younger than his mother’s youngest child, who is 41.
In Daddy Freeze’s view, black is traditionally worn to funerals where he comes from, and he didn’t see why they should be rejoicing at the service.
Mofe Duncan, however, faults such remarks and told Daddy Freeze that he shouldn’t be daft with his comments about celebrities at the event. Duncan emphasized that the night wasn’t about Daddy Freeze or anyone else, but about honoring the late actor.
Duncan added his own warning to Daddy Freeze: “May people not walk out on your own night of tributes,” suggesting that the media personality should learn to be more respectful and less self-centered at such solemn occasions.
The actor also dismissed criticism from followers who commented negatively about celebrities attending Alex Ekubo’s Service of Songs, calling them “daft” and telling them to understand that the event was meant to honor Ekubo’s legacy.
Alexx Ekubo passed away at the age of 40, and his Service of Songs was attended by numerous celebrities from the Nigerian entertainment industry, including Mofe Duncan, AY, and other prominent figures who came to celebrate the late actor’s life and contributions to Nollywood.
