Barely days after terrorists killed dozens in Niger State, gunmen have launched fresh attacks in parts of Kwara, Katsina and Kaduna States, abducting many residents.
The attackers reportedly stormed communities and highways in the three states, shooting sporadically and forcing people from their homes and vehicles.
According to local sources, several passengers were kidnapped on a busy highway in Kwara, while families were seized from villages in Katsina and Kaduna.
Residents said the gunmen operated for hours with little resistance, heightening fears and panic across the affected areas.
Community leaders and security watchers have renewed calls for stronger intelligence, quicker response and better protection for rural communities and motorists.
They warned that the repeated raids show that terrorist and bandit networks remain active and are expanding their reach despite recent military operations.
Authorities in the affected states are working with federal security agencies to track the attackers and secure the release of those abducted.
Security operatives have been urged to increase patrols on highways and around vulnerable settlements to prevent further incidents.

DHQ, ICRC begin training to identify soldiers killed in combat
The week-long Battlefield Mortuary Affairs Programme began on Monday at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Kaduna and will run from July 27 to August 1. Participants were drawn from the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force, with the training aimed at strengthening the military’s response to battlefield deaths and missing personnel.
