At least 34 Muslims fasting for Ramadan have been killed in coordinated attacks on several villages in Kebbi State, northwestern Nigeria. The gunmen, described as terrorists by local officials, raided the communities on Tuesday evening.
The attackers stormed the villages while many residents were observing Ramadan prayers and breaking their fast. Survivors said the gunmen arrived on motorbikes, shooting people and burning homes. Several others were injured, and many families fled into nearby bushes for safety.
Local authorities linked the assault to suspected Islamist militants active around the Kebbi border area. The group is believed to have carried out similar raids in neighbouring states in recent months.
Security forces have been deployed to the affected communities to prevent further attacks and to help residents. Officials said operations are ongoing to track down the attackers and secure the area.
The killings have sparked anger and grief across Nigeria, with many people on social media demanding stronger action against terrorist groups. Human rights groups have also called for better protection of rural communities that remain vulnerable to repeated violence.

NAF airstrikes destroy terrorist base in North-East
