Veteran striker Dzeko joins Schalke on six‑month deal

Veteran Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko has signed for Bundesliga 2 side Schalke 04 on a six month contract running until the end of the current season. The German club confirmed the deal on Thursday, saying the 39 year old has been brought in to boost their attack for the promotion run in.​ Schalke sit four points clear at the top of the Bundesliga 2 table but have managed only 22 goals in 18 league matches so far, with just three teams scoring fewer.
