Western Europe is facing one of its most intense heatwaves in recent history, with several countries recording exceptionally high temperatures and authorities issuing emergency alerts as millions of people struggle with extreme heat conditions. France has experienced its hottest day ever measured by the national temperature indicator, which averages daytime and nighttime temperatures across multiple locations. On Wednesday, the indicator reached 30°C, surpassing all records since measurements began in 1947.
