A combined team of security forces and local fighters has repelled a major bandits’ attack in Niger State, killing scores of the assailants after a prolonged gun battle. The operation involved operatives of the Department of State Services, troops of the Armed Forces and community‑based volunteers who were alerted after terrorists stormed rural communities. Security sources said the confrontation began when heavily armed bandits linked to notorious kingpins Dogo Gide and Leyi attacked Chibani village in Munya Local Government Area, killing one resident and injuring a policeman and another villager. FG to Commercialise Technical Volunteers Scheme – NTAC DG

The Federal Government is preparing to commercialise the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) volunteer programme, according to the agency’s Director-General, Dr. Yusuf Yakub. Yakub disclosed this on Friday in Abuja during the deployment exercise of 20 Technical Aid Corps (TAC) volunteers, made up of doctors and nurses, to The Gambia. He explained that commercialising the scheme will not only help partner nations fill professional gaps but also address Nigeria’s unemployment challenges by engaging young experts who are currently underutilised. “We have an abundance of unemployed youths in Nigeria and several skilled professionals who are not fully engaged, while the world is in need of experts to fill gaps,” Yakub said. Guardians of the Graveyard: 21 Heroes Transform Old Tafo Cemetery.

Over the years, the Old Tafo cemetery in Greater Kumasi fell into neglect, becoming overrun with weeds and trash while turning into a haven for criminals. Robberies and attacks became common, and discarded items from thefts littered the grounds.Determined to change this, a group of 21 volunteers led by Abubakar Karim stepped in to restore the cemetery.
