Kwara Monarch Escapes as Vigilantes Battle Bandits
The abducted monarch of Bayagan community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Kamilu Salami, has escaped from armed bandits along with six other captives. Community sources said they fled on Sunday evening after local vigilantes launched a fierce offensive on the kidnappers’ camp deep inside the forest. The vigilante team reportedly tracked the gang to the Eku Idaji area, near Igbaja, and engaged them in heavy gunfire. Although the monarch and the other escapees had not yet returned to Bayagan at the time of the report, they contacted community members to confirm they were safe and out of the kidnappers’ control.
