United States President Donald Trump is set to welcome Syria’s interim president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, to the White House in early November — marking the first visit by a Syrian head of state to Washington in more than 80 years. Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani confirmed the visit during a speech in Bahrain on Sunday, calling it a “new chapter” in relations between Damascus and Washington. “President Ahmed al-Sharaa will be at the White House at the start of November,” al-Shaibani said. “This is a historic visit that will open the door for renewed cooperation between Syria and the United States.
