2027: Wike Bars Unrecognised Party Factions From Abuja Event Centres, Hotels
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reportedly warned that unrecognised or court-disputed factions of political parties will not be allowed to use Abuja event centres and hotels for conventions or political gatherings ahead of the 2027 elections. The move comes amid ongoing controversy over the African Democratic Congress (ADC) convention venue saga, in which party officials alleged that the proprietor of Rainbow Event Centre in Abuja cancelled their fully paid booking after coming under pressure from the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and the FCT Minister. The ADC claimed the venue owner was threatened with licence revocation if he allowed the convention to proceed at the facility.
