NDLEA Strengthens Maritime Operations, Trains Officers in UK
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has enhanced its maritime surveillance and interdiction capabilities after officers completed specialized training in the United Kingdom and Lagos. Led by DCN Aminu Danjuma Jega, the six-man NDLEA team visited UK maritime and border enforcement facilities from October 19–25, 2025. Guided by Mr. Errol Flynn Macdonald of the UK Home Office, they received hands-on exposure to best practices in maritime intelligence, port security, and inter-agency coordination. The training included demonstrations at Tilbury and Felixstowe ports where inward-bound Nigerian containers were screened using layered inspection and risk-based procedures. Officers witnessed live presentations by the UK National Deep Rummaging Team and learned advanced vessel rummage and drug detection techniques.
