le Togo mobilise 40 milliards FCFA pour faire face à des urgences énergétiques

Le Togo vient d’obtenir un financement de 40 milliards FCFA de la Banque Ouest-Africaine de Développement (BOAD), pour faire face aux dépenses urgentes du secteur énergétique, ce qui devrait inclure des factures d’électricité impayées. L’annonce a été faite à l’issue de la 145ᵉ réunion du Conseil d’administration de la BOAD, tenue hier mercredi 26 mars 2025 à Lomé. Ce soutien financier vise à garantir la continuité du service public d’électricité, dans un contexte régional tendu, marqué par des perturbations d’approvisionnement en provenance des pays voisins, notamment le Nigeria. une cité ministérielle moderne de 18 immeubles dont 8 tours, bientôt à Lomé

Le Togo vient de mobiliser auprès de la Banque ouest africaine pour le développement (BOAD), un financement de 20 milliards FCFA, pour la construction et l’exploitation de la cité ministérielle de Lomé, un projet porté par la Société de Construction de la Cité Ministérielle (SOCOCIM SAU). Ce complexe immobilier composé de 18 bâtiments administratifs, dont 8 tours (R+8 à R+13) et 10 immeubles de type R+2, devrait à terme, permettre de moderniser l’appareil administratif togolais, en rassemblant les services ministériels dans un parc unique à Lomé. Au-delà de son aspect institutionnel, le projet devrait générer un impact économique tangible : plus de 1000 emplois créés pendant la phase de construction, et une valeur ajoutée indirecte estimée à 11,6 milliards FCFA par an, selon les projections de la BOAD. Protection des consommateurs : le Togo s’aligne sur les directives de l’UEMOA

Keta Police Intercept Smuggling Attempt, Three Arrested for Drug Trafficking

In a significant drug bust, the Keta Divisional Police Command in the Volta Region arrested three suspects on February 24, 2025, for allegedly smuggling hard drugs from Togo to Accra. The trio was apprehended at a police checkpoint on the Accra-Aflao road, aboard an STC bus with registration number GG 1736-19.The drugs, identified as 'Taramaking,' were later confirmed to be unregistered and exceeded the legal threshold set by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA). Gorden Akurugu, Head of the FDA’s Volta Region Office, revealed that the seizure amounted to 120 milligrams of the contraband, valued at approximately GH¢1.4 million. FESPACO 2025: Togo and Burkina Faso Discuss Cultural Cooperation

Togo and Burkina Faso are working together on cultural projects at the 2025 Ouagadougou Pan-African Film and Television Festival (FESPACO). This festival is a big event for African movies. On February 22, 2025, Togo's Minister of Communication, Media and Culture, Yawa Kouigan, met with Burkina Faso's Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo. They talked about how important cinema and culture are for West Africa's growth. “Cinema and culture do not require official agreements to thrive, they are naturally imposed by the fraternity between African creators,” Ms. Kouigan said. She praised the strength of the African film industry. Togo sent a team of 50 film professionals to the festival. They have six films competing in different categories like film criticism, series, animation, and more. Togo was honored at the last FESPACO in 2023.

Trade Ministry Launches E-commerce Course for SMEs

To boost local entrepreneurs’ e-commerce skills, Togo’s trade ministry launched a 3-day workshop targeting SMEs on February 25, 2025. Participants were introduced to practical aspects of e-commerce. The participants, nearly 30 business owners, learned about boosting online sales, managing digital payments, and handling logistics. They were equipped with strategies to improve their presence on e-commerce platforms and become more competitive. CILT Considers Opening Office in Togo

Germany Backs School Feeding Program in North with €11M

Togo recently received €11 million from Germany to improve feeding in schools. The funds, provided through the German Development Bank (KfW), will help the World Food Programme (WFP) feed 28,000 children in 110 schools spread across the Kara and Savanes regions. Some of these schools host refugees and displaced people.
