Togo reduces customs fees on cars by 20% until November
The Togolese Revenue Authority (OTR) has announced a temporary 20% reduction on customs duties for vehicles older than five years. The measure, effective from September 1 to November 15, 2025, aims to decongest ports and encourage vehicle imports ahead of the year-end period. The rebate applies to cars currently held under customs. To benefit, importers must complete liquidation and pay duties no later than November 30, 2025. Any unpaid balance beyond this date will cancel the discount. According to the OTR, this decision is consistent with the national customs code and forms part of its broader fiscal facilitation strategy. Similar initiatives are often introduced in the last quarter of the year. Notably, in 2021, the government granted a 40% customs fee reduction to support taxpayers during the Covid-19 crisis.
