Troops repel Zamfara attack, arrest rustlers in Borno
Troops of the Nigerian Army have repelled a terrorist attack in Zamfara State, arrested suspected cattle rustlers in Borno and apprehended five suspects during raids on criminal hideouts in Adamawa State. Security sources said troops of 1 Brigade Quick Response Force foiled the attack on Illela village in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara at about 4pm on Saturday. The soldiers engaged the attackers in a gun battle shortly after arriving in the community, killing an unspecified number of the assailants while others fled. Recovered items included one General Purpose Machine Gun, one AK‑47 rifle, an extra magazine, 211 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammunition and five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
