UK jails Nigerian man for life over ex girlfriend’s murder
A UK based Nigerian man, Adedapo Adegbola, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his former girlfriend after she ended their brief relationship. Adegbola fatally stabbed 23 year old care worker Stephanie Irons in the neck at her home in Mapperley, Nottinghamshire, on 21 October. Nottingham Crown Court heard he had become obsessed with her and carefully planned the attack. The court was told that Adegbola bought two knives on 15 October, then travelled to her address six days later, where he stabbed her multiple times, delivering a fatal wound to her neck. Judge Nirmal Shant said Adegbola’s controlling behaviour had driven Irons to end the relationship, but he refused to accept her decision.
