Police Dismiss Viral Video of Herdsmen Attack in Rivers as False
Police in Rivers State have dismissed as false a viral video circulating on social media that alleged a herdsmen attack within the state. The video, purportedly showing gunfire and calls for help, claimed that Fulani herdsmen attacked and were confronted by Ijaw youths. Police Public Relations Officer Grace Iringe-Koko clarified the command’s investigation found no evidence of any such incident. She described the video as a deliberate attempt to incite fear and undermine peace, emphasizing there were no herdsmen attacks reported in Rivers. The command urged the public to disregard the misinformation, warning residents against the dangers of sharing unverified content that might stoke unnecessary tension or damage the state’s reputation.
