Pakistan’s defence minister has declared that the country is now in an “open war” with Afghanistan, following a series of cross-border airstrikes and military confrontations. Khawaja Muhammad Asif said Islamabad’s patience had been exhausted after fresh attacks attributed to Afghan forces. Pakistan and Austria vow to deepen ties on 70th anniversary of relations

Pakistan and Austria have agreed to further strengthen their bilateral relationship in areas including trade, investment, energy and education during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Vienna. The trip marks 70 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries and included talks with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker. In a joint statement, both sides highlighted plans to expand economic cooperation, particularly in renewable energy, green technology, climate resilience and digital innovation. Suicide Bombing Kills 15 at BNP Rally in Quetta, Pakistan

At least 15 people were killed and more than 30 others injured after a suicide bomber targeted a political rally in Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s Balochistan province, on Tuesday night. Hundreds of members of the Balochistan National Party (BNP) had gathered at a stadium for a rally commemorating former provincial chief minister Ataullah Mengal, who died in 2021, when the bomb detonated in the parking area. Authorities said the attacker could not reach the main venue due to strict security measures. The Islamic State militant group claimed responsibility for the attack.
