Senegal Parade AFCON Trophy In France After Losing Title
Senegal have paraded the Africa Cup of Nations trophy at the Stade de France in Paris, even though the team have been stripped of their 2025 title. The event took place on Saturday before a friendly match against Peru, in front of thousands of Senegalese fans living in France. The Confederation of African Football had ruled earlier in March that Senegal forfeited the AFCON final after several players walked off the pitch in protest over a penalty decision against Morocco. CAF converted Senegal’s 1–0 extra time win into a 3–0 default victory for hosts Morocco and officially awarded them the trophy. Despite the ruling, the Senegalese Football Federation maintains that the team are still the true champions of Africa.
