US sends 200 troops to Nigeria for military training

The United States has deployed about 200 troops to Nigeria to help train the Armed Forces in the fight against Islamist militants. The Wall Street Journal quoted a US military official as saying the move followed recent criticism by President Donald Trump over attacks on Christians in Nigeria.​ The report said the troops will strengthen Nigeria’s counterterrorism capacity through training and operational support. US delivers critical military assets to battle terrorists, bandits

Nigeria’s fight against terrorists and bandits has received a major boost with the delivery of critical military assets from the United States. US Africa Command said the equipment was handed over in Abuja to support ongoing security operations against terrorists and other non state armed groups.​ AFRICOM described the shipment as “critical military supplies” but did not disclose the specific platforms or weapons involved. Army hails Radda for renovating 12 corporals’ quarters in Katsina barracks

The Nigerian Army has commended Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda for renovating and remodelling 12 ensuite family quarters at the Corporal Below Quarters in Natsinta Army Barracks. Radda commissioned the project during Christmas celebrations with Christian communities in the barracks.​ The governor praised the 17 Brigade for its role in securing lives and property, crediting their dedication for the relative peace in Katsina.
