Iran Executes Man Over Links to Nationwide Protests
Iran has executed a man over his alleged involvement in nationwide anti-establishment protests that erupted in January 2026. Judiciary-affiliated media identified the executed man as Erfan Kiani, whose death sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court before being carried out early Saturday morning. Authorities said Kiani acted on behalf of Israel's Mossad intelligence service. Iranian officials claimed Kiani led a group in the central city of Isfahan that carried out acts including damaging public and private property, setting fires, using Molotov cocktails, blocking roads and attacking security forces during the unrest.
