Kaduna Gov Sani vows not to borrow for projects, pledges completion

Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, has assured residents that his administration will not borrow or incur debts to fund projects, even as he pledged to complete several abandoned projects inherited from past governments. Speaking at the groundbreaking of a 16.5-kilometre asphalt road linking Kayarda Tasha, Kayarda Gari, Unguwan Sarki, Maskawa, and Dan Alhaji in Lere Local Government, the governor said the project, handled by a reputable construction company, would be the first of its kind in the area. “This kind of project is unprecedented in Lere Local Government,” Sani said, adding that his government was prioritising infrastructure without resorting to borrowing. Senate Committee Inspects NDDC Road Projects in Cross River

The Senate Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) on Thursday began an inspection tour of ongoing road projects spanning 32 kilometers across Akpabuyo, Akamkpa, and Biase Local Government Areas of Cross River State. The projects under review include the 20km Okomita–Uyanga–Ehom Road in Akamkpa and Biase, the 1.5km Idundu Junction–Idundu Bridge Road in Akpabuyo, and the 10.8km Aking–Osomba Road in Akamkpa. Construction is being handled by Messrs Faith Plant Nig. Ltd. The inspection team was led by committee chairman and Senator representing Cross River South, Asuquo Ekpenyong, alongside other committee members and top NDDC officials, including Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku and Executive Director (Projects) Obong Victor Antai. Minister Condemns Vandalism of Key Bridge in Oti Region, Urges Community Action.

The Roads and Highways Minister, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has voiced concern over the vandalism of a metal bridge over the River Dikyebu in the Oti Region. The bridge, which connects eight farming communities in Nkwanta Municipality, has been severely damaged, with bolts and nuts removed, rendering it unsafe for vehicles. Constructed in 2018, it was intended to improve accessibility, but its current state disrupts travel and threatens the movement of goods. During a visit to the area, Asenso-Boakye urged the local community to prevent further destruction and pledged government funds for repairs. He also discussed the completion of key road projects in the region.
