DHQ cautions media on sensitive security reporting

The Defence Headquarters has advised journalists and media organisations to be careful when reporting on security matters. It said the media should avoid publishing sensitive details that could expose security operations, endanger personnel, or assist criminals. The military explained that responsible reporting is important, especially at a time when the country is dealing with different security challenges. According to the DHQ, the goal is not to stop the media from doing its job, but to encourage accuracy, caution, and professionalism in covering security issues. It added that public information should be handled in a way that protects national security while still keeping citizens informed. The headquarters also called for stronger cooperation between the military and the press. It said such collaboration would help improve public understanding of security operations and reduce the spread of harmful or misleading information.
