Kane scores as Bayern beat Real Madrid 2 1 in Madrid

Harry Kane scored the winning goal as Bayern Munich defeated Real Madrid 2 1 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter final in Madrid on Tuesday night. Bayern took the lead just before half time through Colombia winger Luis Diaz, who finished calmly to silence the Santiago Bernabeu crowd. Less than a minute after the restart, England captain Kane doubled Bayern’s advantage, putting the German champions firmly in control of the tie. Real Madrid responded in the second half when France striker Kylian Mbappe pulled a goal back to make it 2 1, giving the Spanish side hope ahead of the return leg. Despite late pressure from Real Madrid, Bayern held on to secure an important away win and carry a narrow advantage into the second leg of the quarter final.
