Why I wasn’t successful in America – Speed Darlington

Controversial singer Speed Darlington has explained that his 23 years in the United States brought him more legal troubles and emotional distress than success or money. He said his time there was dominated by arrests, criminal records and loneliness rather than the “American Dream” many expect. Darlington described America as isolating and racially biased, alleging that as a black man he constantly felt undervalued and pressured to overprove himself before getting any respect. He added that worrying about his accent and being mocked made it hard for him to approach women or build relationships, which badly affected his confidence and mental health. He contrasted this with his life in Nigeria, where he said he feels respected, successful and financially rewarded. According to him, he built his mansion with a rooftop swimming pool from money earned in Nigeria, including proceeds from […]

Former Tottenham Star Taricco Suspended for Racist Gesture in South Korea

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Mauricio Taricco has been suspended for five matches and fined 20 million won ($13,600) by the K League after making a racist “slant-eye” gesture toward a referee in South Korea. Taricco, now assistant coach at Jeonbuk, was sent off after contesting a penalty call and then reportedly shouted the Spanish word for “racist” before pulling his eyes back with his fingers. K League officials ruled his behavior racist and referenced similar gestures as grounds for prior FIFA sanctions. Taricco claimed he was simply questioning whether the referee saw the handball, but the league rejected his explanation. Jeonbuk, under manager Gus Poyet, won the first-division title this season, with Taricco as assistant. The duo have worked together in England, Greece, Spain, China, and France. The K League emphasized zero tolerance for actions widely perceived as racist.

Apple’s Dictation System Transcribes the Word ‘Racist’ as ‘Trump’

While using Apple’s automatic dictation feature to send messages on Tuesday, some iPhone users reported seeing a peculiar bug: the word “racist” temporarily appearing as “Trump,” before quickly correcting itself. The message blip, which was replicated several times by The New York Times, provoked controversy after appearing in a viral TikTok post, raising questions about Apple’s artificial intelligence capabilities. An Apple spokeswoman blamed the issue on phonetic overlap between the two words, and said the company was working on a fix. The issue appeared to begin after an update to Apple’s servers, said John Burkey, the founder of Wonderrush.ai, an artificial intelligence start-up, and a former member of Apple’s Siri team who is still in regular contact with the team. But he said that it was unlikely that the data that Apple has collected for its artificial intelligence offerings was causing the […]
