Australia police kill fugitive after long manhunt
Australian police have shot dead a man believed to be Dezi Freeman, ending a seven-month manhunt following the قتل of two police officers in 2025. According to authorities in the state of Victoria, the 56-year-old suspect was killed on Monday after a prolonged standoff at a rural property in the north-east of the state. Police had surrounded a structure described as a makeshift dwelling early in the morning. After several hours of negotiation attempts, the suspect exited the building and was shot. Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Mike Bush said officers had intended to arrest the suspect peacefully but were forced to act when he appeared armed.
