Ghana Police CID Declares Petroleum Broker Wanted Over GH¢2.1m Fraud
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has declared wanted a 43-year-old petroleum product broker, Jeremiah Darlington Quainoo, for allegedly defrauding a petroleum company by false pretence. The District Court at Kotobabi issued the warrant under a special serial code (SIU/CID HQTRS). According to police reports, Quainoo obtained petroleum products worth millions from a leading petroleum company but failed to make payments as agreed. Despite two official invitations extended to him by the CID, he ignored them and has since gone into hiding. Investigations revealed that the suspect, working with an accomplice identified as Mr. Nii, has a history of issuing dishonoured cheques. Police confirmed that one such cheque, valued at GH¢650,000, bounced after his accomplice was granted bail. In total, five cheques connected to this case have been dishonoured.
