A seven-month-old Palestinian baby was killed and his parents wounded by Israeli gunfire in the Tel Rumeida area south of the West Bank city of Hebron on Friday evening, the Palestinian health ministry said. The ministry identified the infant as Sam Fahd Abu Haikal and said he was killed at the scene, while his parents were wounded in the shooting and were in moderate condition. The baby was in his mother's arms when he was hit in the incident. The baby's grandmother said the family was driving near Checkpoint 17 when they saw Israeli military vehicles and soldiers in the distance and stopped the car. She said one bullet struck her grandson, traversed his face and crossed his head, striking his mother's cheek where it lodged, and that the bullet had also grazed the father's finger. Trump Says Would Like to Meet Iran Leader Khamenei

US President Donald Trump has expressed willingness to meet with Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing conflict between Washington and Tehran show little progress. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in an interview that Trump is open to meeting anybody, including Iran's supreme leader. "I'm pretty confident in saying that if the Ayatollah said tomorrow he wanted to meet with President Trump, the president would meet him," Rubio told Bloomberg. Rubio emphasized that Trump's willingness to meet is not based on personal agreement with Khamenei, but on the belief that direct dialogue is the way to solve international problems. "Nation states need to interact with one another - I serve under a president that's willing to meet with anybody," the Secretary of State said. The conflict between the US and Iran began more […]

Otti says visit to Nnamdi Kanu is about peace not politics

Abia State Governor Alex Otti says his recent visit to detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu at the Sokoto Correctional Centre was driven purely by a search for dialogue and peace, not by any future political ambition. He spoke while receiving the Abia Diaspora Commission and Abia Global Medical Mission team in Umuahia, reacting to a viral video accusing him of using the visit to build higher political plans. Otti said differing opinions are normal in a democracy but insisted that disagreement does not automatically make critics right. He stressed that, as Kanu is from Abia and specifically from Umuahia North Local Government Area, visiting him was the responsible thing for a governor from his home state to do. The governor restated that he has no intention of contesting any election after completing his tenure. He said that once he finishes […]
