Rivers Traditional Rulers Council sets up committee to end Fubara Wike rift
The Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers has set up a nine member committee to mediate the prolonged political rift between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The council says the crisis has created tension in the state and risks distracting government from delivering development projects. The committee is made up of first class traditional rulers drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state. Its mandate is to engage both Fubara and Wike, listen to their grievances and recommend peaceful solutions that will restore political stability. Chairman of the council, King Dandeson Jaja, said traditional rulers cannot fold their arms while the state’s peace and unity are threatened.
