Amupitan warns ADC against convention without INEC
Legal scholar and INEC chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, has warned the African Democratic Congress against going ahead with any national convention that is not monitored by the electoral commission. He said such a move would have serious legal consequences and could invalidate decisions taken at the gathering. His warning follows the commission’s recent decision to suspend recognition of all factions of the ADC’s national leadership, pending the outcome of court cases over the party’s chairmanship and National Working Committee. INEC had earlier announced that it would not monitor any meeting, congress or convention convened on behalf of the ADC until the Federal High Court in Abuja delivers its judgment.
