Seyi Sodimu says Davido could win governorship over Burna Boy

Singer Seyi Sodimu has compared the influence of Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy, saying each member of the Afrobeats Big 3 holds a different kind of power. He described Burna Boy as having conquered the stage musically, called Wizkid special, and said Davido’s influence goes far beyond music.​ Speaking on the podcast What I Know, Sodimu argued that Davido’s popularity could be strong enough to win a governorship election. Osun court remands suspects over attempted ritual killing

A Special Court in Osogbo, Osun State, has ordered the remand of five suspects accused of attempting to kill a 16 year old boy, Farouq Abdulahi Taiwo, and harvest his organs in Ikire. The defendants, Awotunde Saudat, Muyideen Olutoki, Fatai Abiodun, Usman Ademola and Ismaila Abiodun, were charged with conspiracy and attempted murder.​ The court directed that the suspects be kept at the Ilesa Correctional Centre while the case progresses. The matter has been transferred to the Chief Magistrate Court, Ikire, under charge number MOS/SSA CID/15c/2025.​ According to the charge sheet, the defendants allegedly conspired on July 25 2025 at Ako area, Awotedo, to commit murder, an offence said to be contrary to and punishable under Section 324 of the Osun Criminal Code. S’Court orders FG to fully implement direct LG allocation judgment

The Supreme Court has criticised the Federal Government for failing to fully implement its July 2024 judgment directing that local governments’ allocations from the Federation Account be paid directly to them.​ In a lead judgment delivered by Justice Mohammed Idris in a suit filed by the Osun State Attorney General over alleged withheld LG funds, the court said there was no credible evidence that the Attorney General of the Federation had taken concrete steps to operationalise the earlier ruling in AG Federation v AG Abia and others, and ordered that the decision be implemented forthwith.​ While striking out the Osun suit in a 6–1 majority decision, the court held that the Osun AG lacked locus standi to sue on behalf of local governments because councils are constitutionally recognised, autonomous entities with their own legal capacity to sue and be sued, […]
