Breaking: Michael Carrick appointed Manchester United interim manager

Former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has been appointed interim manager of the club until the end of the season, following the sacking of Ruben Amorim. The 44 year old has reached an agreement in principle with United, with final contract details being completed by the club and his representatives.​ Carrick emerged as the preferred choice after talks with both him and former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about taking temporary charge.
