Martin Kpebu Backs Forson or Ablakwa as NDC Flagbearer

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has publicly thrown his support behind a younger generation of leaders to take charge of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after President John Dramani Mahama’s final term. Speaking on JoyPrime TV’s Prime Morning Show on Wednesday, Kpebu said the party must begin a deliberate transition toward youthful leadership, naming Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as his preferred choices. “If we are doing wishes, then undoubtedly, Ato Forson should go or Okudzeto. Gov’t Sets Up Special Passport Centre for Hajj Pilgrims, Reduces Fees

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the establishment of a special passport centre dedicated to processing applications for 2025 Hajj pilgrims.Speaking at the Hajj Village on March 4, Ablakwa emphasized that the initiative aims to ease travel preparations for Ghanaian Muslims undertaking the pilgrimage. The centre will operate from March 4 to March 13, 2025.To further support pilgrims, the government has reduced the cost of expedited passport processing from GH¢700 to GH¢500, with applications being completed within three days. Additionally, regional kiosks will be set up to extend the service beyond Accra.The initiative has been widely welcomed by the Muslim community, who praise the government’s proactive approach to improving travel accessibility.

The chairman of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the introduction of toll-free hotlines, email addresses, and online platforms to help whistleblowers report corruption without revealing their identities. The initiative is designed to gather evidence transparently and securely.Speaking on Joy FM, Mr. Ablakwa shared that these platforms will be operational by December 20, 2024. He clarified that the ORAL team is not a witch-hunt entity but a central body for receiving corruption-related evidence, which will be directed to relevant institutions for action.President-elect John Mahama emphasized that the initiative would ensure streamlined evidence collection and refuted claims of political targeting. The ORAL team, operating without financial incentives, aims to serve Ghana selflessly in its anti-corruption efforts.
